Yes. Churchill has First Lord of Admiralty in ww1 wanted to name new battleship, HMS Cromwell, the King didn't approve. Shame as Cromwell was great proponent of strong navy. In ww2 a class of British tank was named Cromwell. He was if nothing a good cavalry officer. Though that may also have been to do with British Army naming it's indigenous built tanks something beginning with C. Cromwell, Churchill, Chieftain and Challenger.
