Brilliantly written, I have no urge to watch it. Find schofields insistence “unwise but not illegal” uncomfortable. Absolutely bang on about the power imbalance in that relationship 🙌 one which Schofield fails to acknowledge
“Unwise, but not illegal” is like so many phrases that people in awkward situations fixate on. It may be accurate and technically exculpatory, but (puts comms hat on) from a presentational point of view it is disastrous: evasive, pedantic and suggestive of something to hide. Celebrities in hot water tend to be fighting two battles, legal and reputational, and while of course the two are interlinked, they are not the same and will not admit of the same remedies.
Your point about Schofield's "niceness" being ripped away, and its relevance to his job, is excellent. I think this is at the root of why his reputation has been so irrepairably damaged.
Leaving wife and children for the sake of indulging one's sexual proclivities hardly deserves an award for gallantry. What a shame that Schofield's presence will mar what might have been a pleasant televisual tour of Madagascar's further reaches. Frankly, I'd be more interested in a comeback from Gordon the Gopher.

Dignity? Gordon the Gopher had ten times as much.
